19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents his initial trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from that period of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my children together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

His defensive strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early break points in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
